Madeira Gold Project
Landscape - Madeira Gold Project
- Approximately 200,000 ha concession located in the states of Rondonia and Amazonas, Brazil
- The property is accessible by paved highway from nearby Porto Velho, which is an important centre with modern facilities
- Gold rich duricrust and conglomerate structures exposed by the Madeira River produced over 1.7 million ounces between 1975 and 1995. With both poor gold recovery and simple extraction techniques, the actual production figure is generally accepted as being much higher.
- Exploration carried out by Amazon has identified multiple paleo-drainage channels reaching 10km in length.
- The targets are covered by a narrow clay and sediment horizon and are expected to contain the same duricrust and conglomerate structures exposed by the Madeira River. A two phase exploration has been recommended:
- Phase One: Geophysical and geochemical work, plus drilling
- Phase Two: Systematic infill drilling and preparation of a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate
Hard rock duricrust from Madeira River - Madeira Gold Project
Location
Madeira Gold Project is located north of the City of Porto Velho in the north-western part of Brazil.
Previous works and gold
Gold rich duricrust and conglomerate structures exposed by the Madeira River produced over 1.7 million ounces between 1975 and 1995. With both poor gold recovery and simple extraction techniques, the actual production figure is generally accepted as being much higher.
Geology
Madeira Gold Project is located in a region that is underlain by sedimentary rocks which have been deposited along the northwest edge of Guaporé Craton (Central Brazilian Shield).
Exploration
Exploration on the property will be conducted in two phases, the first phase includes geophysical, geochemical, and drilling to outline and test the paleochannels.
